HPE Opens IoT Innovation Center in Geneva
On January 18, 2019, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) inaugurated a new IoT and Edge computing innovation lab in Meyrin, Geneva. This facility aims to help companies develop, test, and imagine IoT solutions. HPE positions itself as a leader in Edge computing, focusing on managing the vast amounts of data generated by IoT devices. According to Volkhard Bregulla, Vice President at HPE, 75% of data will be processed at the edge by 2022. The IoT Innovation Labs, including the Geneva site, are key to accelerating digital transformation across industries.
The center offers demonstrations of IoT solutions for various sectors, such as smart cities and industrial process digitization. Examples include a vehicle door control system via Edge appliances and defect detection in manufacturing processes at the edge, used in factories like Foxconn. Additionally, HPE launched an accelerator program aimed at Swiss start-ups, providing mentoring, technological resources, and workshops to help them develop projects in collaboration with HPE.
