Why did Microsoft restrict employee access to ChatGPT?

Microsoft Temporarily Blocks Employee Access to ChatGPT: A System Error

On Thursday, November 9, Microsoft temporarily restricted employee access to ChatGPT, citing security concerns. An internal message indicated that several AI tools had been disabled due to data-related issues.

However, this restriction turned out to be a mistake. Following the publication of an article by CNBC, Microsoft explained that the block was the result of an inadvertent activation of its system controls during a test. Access to ChatGPT was restored after about an hour.

It’s worth noting that Microsoft, which has invested heavily in OpenAI, continues to integrate these technologies into its products. The company now recommends that customers use services like Bing Chat Enterprise and ChatGPT Enterprise, which offer enhanced security levels.
