Capgemini's survey reveals that 70% of IT managers place digitization at the top of their priorities for 2021. The focus is on e-commerce and production automation. Companies are looking to digitalize the ordering process, improve customer service and automate logistics management.

A survey conducted by Capgemini reveals that two-thirds of IT managers are planning digitization projects for 2021. Faced with the challenges posed by the pandemic and limited human contact, the focus is on e-commerce and the automation of production processes.
According to this annual survey of 144 IT managers in Switzerland, Germany and Austria, 70% of those polled put digitization at the top of their priorities for 2021. In comparison, fewer than 35% are focusing on cost reduction or the development of new products and services.
This trend is largely explained by the impact of the pandemic, which demonstrated the importance of digitalization in ensuring business resilience. Companies that integrated digital technologies into their processes were better able to adapt to the challenges imposed by the health crisis.
Digitalization projects are therefore focusing on two main areas: the development of e-commerce and the automation of production. On the sales side, one CIO in two is planning initiatives to digitize the order process and improve customer service automation. On the other hand, virtual showroom projects remain less frequent.
In the production sector, two-thirds of IT managers are working on digitizing manufacturing processes and exchanging data with supply partners. Logistics management, too, is a key area where automation is increasingly in demand.
These digitization projects testify to the acceleration of digital transformations, which are essential to meet current and future challenges.
